You are on a sleek, ultra-modern train clickety- clicking through Kent, then it’s dark for 20 minutes, and then you’re whizzing silently across Flanders at 300 km/h. The highly enlightened Eurostar takes only three hours to get from London to Paris. 70 minute from London Waterloo station to Folkestone, 20 minutes inside the Channel Tunnel, and 90 minutes from Calais to Paris Gare du Nord. The ride from London to Lille takes two hours.
