Way to make a Travel > World Tours >Plitvice National Park
The Plitvice Lakes are without a doubt one of Croatia’s most magnificent natural wonders. The national park is renowned for its stunning waterfalls and turquoise lakes. Corkova uvala, the most magnificent primeval woodland in the Dinarides, is also found here. The national park ticket includes a boat trip from one end of the largest lake to the other, as well as an electric train that travels along the park’s eastern border and links the two main gates.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is Croatia’s oldest and largest National Park, notable for its collection of blue-green lakes divided by travertine walls.
Hydrography and Relief of Plitvice Lakes
The special hydrological features of the rocks have permitted water retention on the dolomitic rocks and carving of water in the limestone deposits, as if they were canyons, therefore, the lake system is separated into Upper and Lower Lakes.
The sedimentation process, which generates travertine barriers, has shaped the lake system’s current look. This is an incredibly intricate and sensitive biodynamic process that is dependent on a variety of ecological parameters bearing the fact that the process is still happening today as per the volumes of the pristine ecological circumstances.
Plitvice’s biological diversity
Rich in forests and meadows, Plitvice Lakes National Park is home to a wide variety of plants and animals.
More than 80% of the Plitvice National Park is covered by forests, and Cork Bay is a special place for forest vegetation.
With mostly intact habitats for a number of nationally and internationally endangered species, Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of Croatia’s most prized biodiversity hotspots.

Their diverse cultures and historical customs from Bosnia and Herzegovina are the primary causes.
